John D. Brocklehurst's Biography

John D. Brocklehurst
Vice President
Forest City Residential Group
a division of Forest City Enterprises, Inc

WORK AND EDUCATION:

I am responsible for the financial analytical function for new development opportunities for Forest City Residential Group.  I am part of the team which determines whether a new opportunity should be presented to the Forest City Investment Committee, and am responsible for the creation of the proforma analysis used in such a presentation.  I am also the primary person responsible for the structuring of agreements with tax credit investors in various Residential Group or Commercial Group projects in which historic, new markets, or low income housing tax credits are a component of project funding.  I continue as the primary liaison with these investors throughout the life of their involvement with the project.

I joined Forest City in June 1979, starting in the Winslow Homes division, which at that time was Forest City’s single family housing development company.  In 1981 I transferred to what is now the Residential Group as a member of its accounting staff.  Over the years my responsibilities evolved to include:  stewardship during the early 1980s of the earliest Forest City partnerships in which tax credit investors participated, financial analytical support for a series of tax advantaged partnership deals and re-syndications in the mid 1980s, running the day to day operations of Forest City Capital Corp (Forest City’s mortgage subsidiary) in the early 1990s, and my present role in project development activities and tax credit investor deal structuring.  I was promoted to Assistant Vice President in 1989 and Vice President in 1996.

I graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Business Administration (major in Accountancy) in 1976.  I joined a regional public accounting firm, S. R. Snodgrass & Co, in 1977, and became a CPA in 1979.

PERSONAL:

My wife, Rae, and I moved to Columbia Station from Strongsville in 2006.  Since that time we have been active in a number of township activities and events, often in the name of our farm – KerryBrock Farm. We have been a sponsor for the Homecoming each of the past 3 years.  Last year we sponsored and decorated a Christmas tree in the township park.  When we lived in Strongsville, I was a member for several years of the Strongsville Rotary.  I had to give that up after the move to Columbia in 2006, as responsibilities at the farm were too great to allow me time to participate.
